What Is Local Search?

Local search is a type of search relent to a search engine user, based on their location or a location they add to the end of their keyword when they search. Ranking well for local searches is a great way to boost your conversions, as people tend to carry our local searches when they are ready to make a purchase.

A local SEO strategy will play a major role in getting your site found on the SERPs for local keywords, however, here are a few extra tips for appearing in local searches.

Claim your Google maps listing and business address. To get set up with a Google Maps listing, you’ll need to first create a Google My Business account, or speak to your SEO agency who can set up and manage this on your behalf.

Once claimed and correctly optimised, your Google Maps listing has potential to improve your visibility in local search results and provide a convenient information source for potential customers.

Google My Business also gives customers the option to leave reviews, and positive reviews positively influence Google in ranking your maps listing (Google’s more likely to rank a maps listing with higher reviews above lower performing competitors). You can help encourage customers to leave reviews for your business by including a link in an email, or by adding a link from your website.
